Values

quality mark 4

WE ARE BARNET'S FIRST VALUES BASED SCHOOL

We have 12 values that will guide children’s choices, learning and behaviour.

What does the word value mean to you?

Values are principles that drive behaviour. They influence our actions and attitudes and become our framework for living. They influence our relationship with ourselves and others.

Child friendly version:

A value is something that you think is important which helps you to think and make good choices and actions.

As school staff, volunteers and visitors we focus on:

  • showing unconditional positive regard for children and one another;
  • being publicly upbeat, positive and optimistic;
  • valuing every adult working as a ‘teacher’;
  • being role models – there are no bystanders; everyone has high expectations.

What is values-based education?

Watch this video to hear Dr Neil Hawkes, international consultant for values-based education, explaining the approach in schools.

We are delighted to report that we have achieved an extremely difficult and rigorous achievement. This was the result of a lot of hard work and a detailed and forensic audit.  Please click on the link below to read our amazing report.  Our values are at the very heart of everything we do, we know that if we don't instil values in our young people, then all the maths and reading results in the world won't matter. A big thank-you to all the staff who work tirelessly to maintain a culture of high standards and values and to the parents who support the school and your children in living these values at home
